The Morneaus

Serving with GEM in England

About the Morneaus

After many years serving in Slovenia, the Morneau family recently transitioned to the United Kingdom, where they are partnering with a church plant focused on reaching their local community with the gospel. Throughout the transition to a new sending organization and a new country, God has faithfully provided and guided each step. They are thankful for the relationships they built in Slovenia and for the warm welcome they have received in England. Since arriving, God
has opened doors to build friendships with many unchurched families in their neighborhood, and they are prayerfully preparing to launch a missional community in their home. Kristen also helps lead a weekly outreach group for families with toddlers, creating opportunities to connect with local families and invite them into the life of the church. They are grateful for God's faithfulness and excited to see Him continue building His church.

Ministry Update & Prayer Requests

How has the lord been at work in your ministry this past year?

We've had big changes in our ministry this last year. We've transitioned sending organizations and have relocated to the UK and are now focusing on church planting. God has been faithful during this transition, from all the logistics involved in switching sending orgs to relocating to a new country and settling in. We are grateful for the good goodbyes we had with all our loved ones and ministry in Slovenia and for the welcome we received from the church plant in England that we're now working with. We've been grateful for the doors God has opened in relationships here and that He seems to already be preparing people's hearts before we even talk with them. We've gotten to know a number of unchurched families in our neighborhood and are prayerfully planning to launch a missional community in our home, hoping that these families would make up the core of the new group. Kristen has been able to help lead an outreach group for families with toddlers hosted in our church each Friday. It's been fun seeing the ways God is using this to form new relationships with people from outside the church and a great activity to be able to invite families to that we're meeting in our community.

How can we pray for you?

Please be praying for the new missional community that we will be starting in our home in September. We're inviting the families that we've been getting to know to join us and bringing in a young person from our church to train and invest into.

Please be praying for long-term vision as to where in the UK God would have us plant a church and that He would bring wisdom as we begin to form a team for that eventual plant.

Please keep praying for our family as we settle into a new context and life in the UK. For Kristen in her relationships with other moms, for Sofia as she starts school, and for Josh as he steps out to use his gifts in new ways.

how do you hope to see god work in the coming year?

We plan on launching a new missional community that is focused on discipleship and multiplication and mostly made up of non-believers. This will be an exciting opportunity to reach these new friends, disciple a young leader from our church, and model to the wider church what discipleship and multiplication can look like in real life.
We also hope the Lord gives us clarity on long-term placement, where we'll eventually land with our team to plant a new church, and who we'll be partnering with in these efforts.
