The Forjans

Serving in Radovljica, Slovenia

About the Forjans

Sebastian Forjan, like almost every Slovene, was raised Catholic and attended church but didn’t believe in God. In 1995, he put his faith in Christ. While he served in the army for nine months, God put a burden on his heart for the youth of his country, and after two years of growing in his faith, he became involved in youth work in his local church in Ljubljana. Sebastian married his wife Gloria in 2002, and he spent one year as the first full-time youth pastor in Slovenian
history working with his local church and Josiah Venture. The following year he went to Belfast Bible College, and in 2006, they moved to a new town, Radovljica, to start a youth ministry there. Out of this group they planted an evangelical church in an area where there were no newborn believers. The Lord is opening doors in their region and his church is still growing. Their vision is to see the northwest part of Slovenia reached with the gospel of JesusChrist.

Ministry Update & Prayer Requests

How has the lord been at work in your ministry this past year?

This past year we have seen the Lord strengthening our local church community in Radovljica and opening new opportunities for ministry. God has been at work deepening discipleship in our church through Bible teaching, small groups, and leadership development.

In our local church in Radovljica we are thankful that several new people have started attending, and we are now intentionally investing in discipleship and relationships with them.

We have also seen meaningful connections through Catalyst Community, where we have been able to encourage different churches in Slovenia in their mission and outreach to new people.

Another open door has been through the Trauma Healing ministry. Gloria had the opportunity to help a church walk through past hurts and challenges, and it was encouraging to see steps toward healing and reconciliation.

In December our church was also officially welcomed as the first Acts 29 church in Slovenia, which was a significant milestone for us. Throughout the year we have continued investing in emerging leaders and strengthening the church through the faithful teaching of God’s Word and the gospel.

We are grateful to see how God continues to build His church here, often through simple faithfulness in teaching the Word, prayer, and relationships.

How can we pray for you?

Please pray for us in these areas:

Church – Pray for our church plant in Radovljica, for unity, maturity, and continued growth in love for Christ and one another. Pray that through the study of God’s Word our church would reflect the new life we have received through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Emerging Leadership Training – Pray for the men we are investing in through leadership training in our church. Pray for their growth in their understanding of Scripture, be equipped for faithful ministry, and that the Lord would shape their hearts to serve His church with humility and faithfulness.

Trauma Healing Ministry – Pray for Gloria as she helps lead Trauma Healing groups and supports churches walking through pain and past wounds. Pray that many people would experience healing of inner wounds, restoration, and reconciliation through the truth of God’s Word.

Family – Pray for protection, wisdom, and joy for our family as we serve in ministry together. Pray that we would faithfully love and guide our three teenage boys as they grow in their own faith. Pray that our home would remain a place of faith, encouragement, and strength for the work God has called us to.

how do you hope to see god work in the coming year?

In the coming year we hope to invest more intentionally in discipleship, especially with several new people who have recently connected with our church. Our desire is to walk closely with them, help them grow in their faith, and strengthen our small groups so that they remain places of spiritual growth, encouragement, and community.

We also hope to develop a ministry team within the church where more people can discover and faithfully serve in the roles God has given them.

Another important focus will be continuing to train emerging leaders in our church. We pray that through teaching, mentoring, and practical ministry experience, God would raise up faithful leaders who will serve the church and help strengthen gospel ministry in Slovenia.

Through Catalyst Community, we also pray that God would continue using this network to encourage churches across Slovenia to remain active in the Great Commission and to equip workers within their own churches.

As the first Acts 29 church in Slovenia, we pray that the Lord would continue strengthening our church and use it as a small encouragement for church planting and gospel-centered ministry in this region.
