The Coppenraths

Serving at The King's Church in Ontario, CA

About the Coppenraths

Stephen Coppenrath has served in a variety of roles within the local church since 2004, and most recently planted The King's Church in Ontario, CA in the fall of 2022. He and his wife, Katie, have four kids, Owen, Penny, Margo and Wesley. Raised in Southern California, he enjoys beating his kids at Mario Kart, dating his wife, traveling to new places, and occasionally riding his bike.
The King's Church aims to be an outpost of Christian community devoted to loving their neighbors, serving each other, and honoring King Jesus in all that they do. Transformed by the gospel, they follow the teachings of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and encourage humble and missional living as they anticipate his return.

Ministry Update & Prayer Requests

How has the lord been at work in your ministry this past year?

This past year has been marked by growth and transition. We’ve seen God’s hand in the timing of leadership changes that moved us to depend more on our congregation—shifting responsibility to volunteers and affirming our first lay elders, which has deepened ownership and spiritual maturity across the church. We also sent out our first global missionary to Spain and have continued to see consistent numerical growth alongside that spiritual development.

How can we pray for you?

Please pray for financial provision and generosity within our church family as we pursue long-term sustainability in our third year. We’re in a season where every dollar matters, and our hope is to grow in financial health—not just so we can sustain ourselves, but so we can be generous toward our community and other ministries, just as others (like GBC) have been generous toward us. Also, pray for more visible gospel fruit—salvations, baptisms, and bold steps of faith in response to God’s Word.

how do you hope to see god work in the coming year?

I’m hopeful that God will continue to raise up more leaders from within our congregation—people who’ve been discipled here and are now discipling others, just like we see in 2 Timothy 2:2. There’s a growing hunger for spiritual growth and ownership, and I’d love to see that turn into even more people stepping into leadership roles. We also want to deepen our community impact and keep growing in sending capacity, whether that’s global missions or church planting down the road.
